BayBlend DK is a woolen spun yarn that beautifully combines softness and structure. This lofty, two-ply blend of wool and alpaca takes the dye with rich depth and dimension. With a smooth hand and gentle halo, it’s perfect for cozy garments, colorwork, and textured stitches alike.
BREED:
BayBlend DK brings together 70% Targhee-Polypay wool—the same source of our Heritage yarn line known for its fine, resilient fleece—and 30% Huacaya alpaca, prized for its softness and warmth. The result is a balanced yarn that’s soft yet durable, light yet full of body, making it a versatile choice for everyday knits.
THE WOOL: This yarn is spun from Targhee-Polypay sheep. This breed is known for their consistent, quality fleece. The fine wool heritage of the Targhee-Polypay breed is evident in it’s wool. The yarn is soft and fine, but also durable, perfect for everyday garments and accessories. The yarn is lofty and great for colorwork, but also contains enough body to showcase texture.
The 23 micron on the Heritage yarn line means this Targhee-Polypay wool is top of it's class! This outstanding rating is a reflection of the outstanding care put into these sheep by the farm that raises them. (A micron is a unit of measurement used to measure the diameter of wool fibers. A wool’s diameter is the most important factor in determining its value. The lower the number, the finer the wool. A 23 micron is well into the range of a fine wool!)

CARE:
• This yarn blooms and softens even more after a soak. Hand wash in lukewarm water and dry flat.
NOTE:
• The yarn is spun at a DK weight but when knit up and blocked, this yarn blooms to a gauge that is comparable to a heavy DK / light worsted weight yarn.
• In an effort to not damage or weaken the wool it is not harshly scoured, therefore a small amount of vegetable matter (VM) might be present in the yarn.
