About Kathy Fogarty from Midnight Mercantile

Midnight Mercantile the Result of Many Late Nights Dreaming and Creating

As the eternal optimist, I am always looking to the future, and the future of my son. I wanted to find a way to start an at home business that would give me to stay involved in his school work and activities.

I brought my creativity, knowledge and experience from working many years in the New York fashion industry to my new endeavor. I have a love of beautiful natural fabrics, quality construction, clever design and desire to leave a smaller carbon footprint on this earth into a business I could call my own. I spent many a night knitting, felting, sewing, and weaving to create a collection of accessories and home decorative items that would be useful, charming and sustainably sourced. Midnight Mercantile was born.

With help from my dear friend, Gail, and lots of experimentation, I began making 100% wool felt fabrics for bags, drink coozies and wreaths. I use natural wool fiber locally sourced from New York state farms to make felt.

I source my core materials locally with businesses who pay fair wages to their employees. All of my fabrics are natural fibers.
