The Fiber & The Feel

This yarn features a thoughtful blend of 80% Merino and 20% Alpaca. The Merino provides a bouncy, elastic foundation that gives your garments excellent stitch definition and "memory," while the Alpaca adds a subtle, luxurious halo and a drape that softens with every wash.

Whether you are working on a cozy textured cardigan or a delicate lace shawl, this blend offers a warmth that is substantial yet breathable.

Crafted with Integrity

True to our commitment to sustainable commerce and traceable supply chains, this yarn is a celebration of regional expertise:

  • Sourced: Developed by Fox and Hound Merino with a focus on high-quality, ethically raised fiber.

  • Spun & Dyed: Expertly processed at Aurora Spinnery in Vermont (Part of the VT Fibershed). Known for their small-batch precision, Aurora ensures the fiber's natural integrity is preserved while achieving deep, luminous colorways.

  • A "Sweaters for Good" Selection: As part of the Sweaters for Good initiative, this yarn supports regional shepherds and the slow fiber movement, ensuring that your creative work contributes to a healthy, local textile ecosystem.

Project Inspiration

  • Pullovvers & Cardigans: The Merino base ensures your sweater won't lose its shape, while the Alpaca provides that "cuddle factor."

  • Heritage Accessories: Perfect for cables, bobbles, and traveling stitches that need to pop.

Established in 2013, Fox & Hound evolved from a starter flock of exceptionally fine fiber animals.  Their flock continues to grow on a 127 acre western NY farm, one hour south of Buffalo, nestled in Amish country.  We practice sustainable farming, meeting their electrical needs with solar panels.  Their animals get individual attention and health care.  Each one has a name and a unique personality.
